Bad News: We can't use the name New Arkham

9_9 You oki? Here, take this drink and sit down. It's alright, we'll get through it.

New Arkham is so very close to the name Arkham City, trade marked by DC games for obvious reasons. If the Arkhamites comic or project becomes popular enough, DC would find an easy time of suing us out of existance. It's just the way the game is played.

So, The name "New Arkham" and "Arkhamites" is out of bounds. More of an annoyance than a game-breaker. We need to come up with a new name, and by extension, a new name for my comic. *sigh* It is at least fortunate that we've come to this problem early on before too many comics or stories were written.

New Names
9_9 I still want a Lovecraftian sounding name, truth be told, and we are fortunate that about 1/4th of lovecraft's work are public domain, but we don't need to reference Lovecraft dirrectly, rather maintain the feel of a Lovecraftian town.

9_9 I wonder if the name "Kadath" is copywriten or trade marked.

Meanwhile, Here are some ideas for the name change, but I hate to say it, I need to jump on this fast. Most of the comic kind of depends on it.

Kadath?
Queen's Side? (Change Lake Mason to Mason Bay)
Witchhunt
Ravenlov (I just like the street name)
Kashaph (I think it's Hebrew meaning "Whitch")

Ideas? Votes? Concerns?

Ravenmist? I like the raven theme, but Ravenlov might be a touch overdone? I dunno.

It sucks we can't use New Arkham but whatever.
Hebrew might not be awesome for a Lovecraftian-esque name.

Part of me wonders what it would be like if the town name was just left scratched out. Looking at the few pages you drew, the feeling one gets from seeing a pretty little sign of "Welcome To New" and then the rest scratched off is pretty eerie in itself.

But what would the town/city-folk call the town? or would that be something noone knows?

I like the eerieness of scratching out something, but that's probably best used for a character or a name that shall not be spoken. Kind of like scratching out all references to a Minator (ha ha! House of Leaves Reference).

The town needs a real name.

I agree Ravenlov might be over played. Ravenmist would also be a bit much, tho. (Ravenloft Ravenmist Ravenlov Raven raven raven)

I was thinking Queen's Galley, but apparently that's already a town. Grms.

Other ideas for Town names.
Helgrace (Hell's Grace)
Helsage (Hell's Edge)
Moondred (Moon's Dread)
Inskath (no idea where that came from)
Empress (I've always thought of the town as being a woman.)

Oooo! I got it!

Helsaidge!

<_< No that's stupid.

In Seventeen eighty-something, they came and founded a town on the premise that the world was ending...soo...
On Facebook, I think Month Said World's End. Over time, you know how people push words together...

Worlds End
World sinned
Worlsind

...

Worlsind isn't bad, actually.

What does Natchia think of Worlsind? There's no word or name like it. I checked Google.

By the end of the weekend, I'mma decide one way or the other.

Point. I was just thinking that it might be interesting to have a town whose name the world forgot :P

I'm pretty terrible and naming things though so uh... I'll leave the rest up to you fine folks.

Worlsind. I think it needs a little something-something. A descriptor, like 'new' was for us before, about how it's more than just a town. It's a project, ongoing, with our input.

Worlsind tract.

Worlsind parcel.

Worlsind Gate. I like this one. Though towns tend to be Ports instead of Gates. Portgate?

Worldsind does feel like it's missing something. But I suffer as Vidus does... My ability to create names is lacking. I'll just sit back and enjoy..

Worlsind Gate works best.

Tis two steps away from Baldurs Gate! Beware evil Sharevo..... oh, sorry, wrong genre.
